The first attempts for the publication of a newspaper for the news of the 71st troop were made in 1986 by 3 young officers of the troop by publishing "Strong Walker". But the attempt failed since they only manage to publish 2 issues before being stopped.

The second attempt was made in October of 1990, when a group of scouts, venture scouts and officers published the "Youth". This time, they continued until March of 1993.

The newspaper currently being published every around 3 months is called "Near to 71" (or "close to 71", or "By 71"...depending on the translation!), and was first released in September of 1992, as the first official newspaper of the 71st Troop of Kaimakli.
