Building a Home for the 71st Cyprus Troop
In 1959 when the 71st Scout troop was
formed it had no place of its own. Funds were also not available. In a near by
industrial area (SOPAZ) some pieces of and old tin shack were found. These were
the pieces that formed the first home for the Kaimakli scouts locating it in the
exact spot the modern building lies.

The shack was maintained for some 16
years. It proved however too small to fit the ambitious 71st and fund raising
went underway for building the new scout nest. Fund raising went on for 5 years
while hindered by the Turkish invasion of 1974. In 1975 it was all set to go.
The picturesque tin shack was demolished and building went under way.
The building was completed in various
stages and followed various additions. In May 1987 the completed building was
inaugurated.
