KERAVNOS IS STILL HERE AND
READY TO WIN THEIR 9th CHAMPIONSHIP
IN THE LAST ELEVEN YEARS!!!
Tonight
KERAVNOS showed that they are still 'alive and well' and their motivation
and spirit are as high and the same as it was eleven years ago. They
proved once again, that when they decide to play good basketball there is
not a team in Cyprus that they can win them.
The
girls started the game with great desire and showed that they would be the
sovereign body of the game. The two team captains (Silvia and Stalo) lead
the way and the rest followed them as good soldiers. In this first quarter
the team had a lead of 9 to 10 points.

In the second quarter APOEL played
stronger (sometimes above the limits of the fair play) and the referees
allowed it, resulting in a game where, instead of being played a
basketball game, we saw a rather different game!!! In this quarter Pavlina
Charalampidou helped the team a lot and showed that her absence in the
last year was critical in the team spirit. The first half ended with a
point lead for KERAVNOS.
The
second half did not start as the Coach planned and wished. In this quarter
Julia, Georgia Konstantinou and Despina raised their game and helped the
team keep up with APOEL. In this period APOEL
continued to play strong and they scored their first 9 points with
free-throughs. This fact gave a temporary irritation to the team and APOEL
managed to take the lead at the end of the third quarter.

The
lucky fans (around 300-400) of both teams watched a 'thriller' in the last
quarter. Both teams played with all their heart for this critical win and
at this point we feel the need to congratulate both teams for the unique
experience they have offered us. KERAVNOS showed their great experience in
these stages of the game and despite being behind in the score they
managed to take the lead in the last 40 seconds and win the game. Our
young point guard Despina scored the winning shot, after a great assist
made by Pavlina. Five players scored in this last ten minutes showing that
KERAVNOS is a truly great team.

It is hard
to distinguish better players than others in this important game. We
decided to name all eleven players that were in KERAVNOS tonight as
best players. we believe that even the players that did not play
TONIGHT were top players and helped the team EQUALLY. the fact that they
help the team in daily PRACTICES, with out any financial benefits and with
their ONLY INTENSION AND 'CRIME' THE GREAT love to the club AND THE PEOPLE
BEHIND THIS TEAM.
