KERAVNOS MADE AN
IMPORTANT STEP FOR WINNING THEIR 9th CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE
KERAVNOS,
proved once again, that they are the best team in Cyprus. It's not a figure
of speech but a reality that all the fans and the people around this team
knew and believed. The only difference about this game was, that the
players believed that it was time to play according to their abilities and
the great basketball they can play. They left their problems behind, all
the tiredness and the heat (they had to play at 4.30pm) and they won APOEL
by 27 points difference !!!
From the very first minute the
girls took the lead to the score and they did not loose it in any part of
the game. They played very good defense and they had a clear mind
offensively. In the first half the girls followed the orders of the coach
and they showed to APOEL that they would face a very difficult opponent
and that they would not give them the chance (as in previous games) to
think that they could win this critical game. The first half was probably
the best this team had since the start of the season (17 points
difference). The half time score was 16-33.
In the
second half APOEL tried to make a comeback, by playing strong defense but
KERAVNOS was aware of the importance of this game and did not show any
signs of "suicidal" as they did in the first game of the finals.
The girls continue to play good defense (the key of the game) and
offensively they scored from almost all positions.
The lucky fans (around 300) watched a
great performance of KERAVNOS and they left the court knowing that with
another win this team will be the Champions once more.
Despina and Sylvia scored between them 7
three-point shots (4 for the young point guard and 3 from the team
captain). At this time the two "Columns " of the team
Stalo and Pavlina played very well and help the team from short distances
taking apart any plans the opponents had. Julia organized the team and
showed once more how valuable she is in the team. Georgia Nikolaou, Chara
and Georgia Konstantinou played very well and help the team when they
where needed. Monika, Pavlina and Eleni (Eleni scored her first two points
in Playoff Finals) showed that they are ready to play when the team needs
them.
Once
more is hard
to distinguish best players in this game. We
decided AGAIN to name all eleven players that play for KERAVNOS tonight as
best players.
SO
BEST PLAYERS TONIGHT WERE... MONICA, SYLVIA, STALO, PAVLINA CHARALAMPIDOU,
JULIA, GEORGIA NICOLAOU, GEORGIA KONSTANTINOU, CHARA, DESPINA, PAVLINA
TSIAMOUROU AND ELENI.
KERAVNOS showed that the experience they
carry in their shoulders is their most valuable weapon. It is not easy to
win 21 trophies in the last 11 years and playing in more finals than any
team in Cyprus. The girls today showed to all the "disbelievers"
that no matter how many trophies they have won they are still as motivated
and "hungry" as they were in the beginning. On the other hand,
the girls know that APOEL is a very good team and they will not come to
Strovolos to give us the game in a "silver plate". They will
come on Wednesday stress-free and try to play the best they can, win the
game and move the final to a fifth and final game. We are positive that
the girls, the coaching staff and the people around this team are going to
do their duty and win the game in Strovolos.
