(17^th April) KERAVNOS Vs Achilleas Kaimakliou 77 - 75

One of the most exciting games of the season was played in Strovolos tonight in which Keravnos triumph over Achilleas. The girls won the game by 77 to 75 after 50 minutes... and they made the first step to the final of the play-off. 

Lets take things from the beginning. In the first quarter the team had the best start they could hope for. With defence that game of a book, Achilleas scored only 9 points. Offensively, all five players that  started scored and showed the team spirit that exists in Keravnos. In the second period the team played good and tried to keep the difference that was build in the first quarter. The first half score was 33 - 23.

In the second half the girls did not start well and they gave the chance to Achilleas to play fast and score from offensive rebounds. In the final quarter the team showed the same desired to win the game but unfortunately key members such Georgia Konstantinou, Silvia, Stalo and Despina were charged each with four personal fouls. In the last 5 seconds (the score was 58-58), Achilleas won a controversial foul but they missed both free throughs.

The game went to the first extra overtime were Achilleas started better but the girls showed their strength and their desire to win this game at the end. A minute to go, (the team was down to 6 points) Silvia and then Stalo scored a three pointer each and they equalise the game.

In the second extra overtime, the girls fought the tiredness and the fact that 2 of their team members were out with five fouls and played as if it was a final. They managed to take the lead again to the score and they did not loose it again.

Tonight, Keravnos showed to their opponents (including the future ones !!!) that their desire to win this Championship is greater than ever. They are still here and they will fight with their talent, their great heart and their experience to win their ninth championship in the last eleven years.

All the girls played very good and they help the team of Keravnos Strovolou, reach the first win of the semi-final. Top scorers were Julia with 18 points, followed by Despina with 17, Silvia with 16 and Stalo with 13 points.
